Chatpate Gobhi Aloo

While in college, every Wednesday, my mess used to serve the most amazing meal I had ever tasted. I used to wait for Wednesdays so I could get to eat my mess food!!! Well, it was kadhi and chatpate gobhi aloo served with rice and roti. It was truly a feast for the tongue.

2 cups cauliflower

2 cups potatoes

1 green chilli

2 tblsp Oil

1 tblsp zeera

A pinch of hing

Red Chilli powder

Dry mango powder

Turmeric powder (haldi)

Dhaniya powder

Cut the cauliflower florets longitudinally to get 2 inch pieces. Similarly, peel and dice the potatoes to get 2 inch long pieces. Heat oil in a pan and add zeera and hing to it. When the zeera starts to splutter, add cauliflower and potatoes to it. Chop the green chilli and add. Add the rest of the spices to taste. Make sure you do not add too much haldi or mango powder. Mix the sabzi properly. Add 2 tblsp water and put a lid on the pot and cook on low flame for 10-15 mins while stirring frequently. Remove when the potatoes are soft. Serve hot.
