Baked Burger

Come winter and my brother and I would be begging mom to make her special baked burgers.  They used to be a real treat specially when you get to hold hot hot burger in the cold cold weather….Sitting in the verandah in the morning trying to get a little ray of sun to warm us up, baked burgers and good conversation made the day.

Preparation Time – 30 mins

Servings – 2 people

Ingredients

4 burgers

1 cup green peas

2 tblsp processed cheese

2 tblsp oil

1 tsp zeera

A pinch of hing

Salt and red chilli powder to taste

1 tblsp lemon juice

Make a hole on top of each burger bun and scoop out the insides to make a container. Grate the cheese and keep aside. Heat oil in a pan and add zeera and hing to it. When the zeera starts to splutter, add the green peas to it. You can add the burger crumbs also to the mix. Add salt and red chilli powder and stir on high flame. Cook on low for 5-7 mins. Remove and add lemon juice. Brush each burger lightly with oil. Place 2 tblsp of green peas in each burger and top it with grated cheese. Place the burgers in an oven or on a grill and bake till the cheese starts bubbling and becomes slightly brown. Serve hot with tomato ketchup.
